35 Uses for Coconut Oil
The last time I went to the grocery store, I bought three giant tubs of coconut oil. As I was setting them down at the checkout line, the lady behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked “So….what do you use coconut oil FOR?” She had never heard of it before, and had no clue why I would need so much. I didn’t even know where to begin. I couldn’t even think where to start so I finally replied “Ummm…everything.”
I’m not kidding when I say its good for everything. Calling this stuff versatile would be a huge understatement. When I discover things like this it blows my mind that God could create something so useful for so many different things.
One important thing to note is that not all coconut oil is made the same. If you’re putting the oil on your body or eating it, you want to make sure its good quality like this brand.
Body Lotion – I use this every day! It locks in moisture, softens skin, and smells amazing!
Natural Makeup Remover – One of my favorite ways to naturally remove makeup. Warm a small amount of oil between your palms, and then massage it over your eyes and face. Wash the oil off with a wet cloth. It melts the makeup off instantly, and its good for your skin. Keep in mind that if you get a lot of acne, you might want to use an oil that is less likely to clog pores, like olive, grapeseed, etc.
Conditioning Hair Mask – Coating your hair with one tablespoon of coconut oil can repair damage and prevent split ends. You can apply it to your scalp, but I like to focus mainly on the ends of my hair. Leave in for 20-60 minutes, or even overnight. Apply shampoo a couple times in the shower to get the mask out, and enjoy your silky smooth hair!
Lip Balm – Apply a small amount on your lips to leave them smooth and hydrated. Extra bonus – it smells really nice!
Shaving Cream – Rub onto skin before shaving. For easier application, first whip up coconut oil with an electric mixer. Keep in mind that it might make your tub slippery!
Healthy Nails – Applying coconut oil to nail beds keeps germs at bay, prevents hangnails, and makes it easier to cut or push back cuticles.
