Epsom Salt Detox Bath

I try my best to rid our world of toxins, but sometimes coming into contact with harmful substances is unavoidable. They’re practically everywhere, in our food, in our water, even in the air we breathe. I mean I HAVE to breathe!!! At some point we have to give our health to God and go outside and be a part of the world.
This is why detox baths have become one of my favorite things to do for my family’s health, because they help your body eliminate toxins after you have come into contact with them. While we can’t avoid coming into contact with all toxins, we can reduce unnecessary exposure and help our body to eliminate them more efficiently.

When you take a detox bath it causes your body to flush out toxins through your skin, instead of the usual toxin elimination through the liver, lungs, kidney, or bowel. It only takes a few simple ingredients: Epsom salts, baking soda, and (optional) essential oils. I do this regularly, but I make it a huge priority to take one when I’m feeling crummy because it always makes me feel better!!!

Ingredients:
3/4 cup epsom salt
1/4 cup baking soda
(Optional) 6-8 drops of essential oil of your choice. I add this mostly for aromatic purposes, so I prefer to use an oil that will help with mood, like Lavender or Stress Away.
Directions:
Store mixture in a glass jar, or pour into hot bath immediately. Soak in bath for 20 minutes total. It takes about 20 minutes for your body to detox, but if you stay in longer you may reabsorb those toxins. Do no use any soap or shampoo or you will absorb those chemicals through your skin. I like to scrub down in the shower right before or after I take a detox bath, but never during. Some people (including me) use these bath salts every day, and some people recommend doing it a couple times a week. Be sure to do your own research to decide what works best for you and your body!
